In Due Time

I will (hopefully) own all of the following

1. Cloche:
I actually already own this one, I got it from target for only $15!

2. Over-the-Knee Socks:

I already own an immense amount of tights, but sadly in the dead of winter I never have the will to wear a skirt because tights never seem to be warm enough.  Once I noticed the over-the-knee sock trend I realized that this could be the answer to my dying-of-cold-in-winter problem: wearing tights with overknees!
I have tried it out already and can say that I am very pleased with the level of warmth and comfort.

3. Camel EVERYTHING:

This beautiful garment also doubles to fill the long(er than normal) skirt category

4. Olive Green/Sweaters

I love warmth and I love olive green (especially with grays, camels, and dusty purple-grey)

5. Loose Tapered Pants:

Currently, I love the look of slouchy and baggy clothing.  These pants will be the perfect addition to my wardrobe.

I'm a bit of a Nerd

So recently I was watching the music video for Forever Young (the original magnificent one)
and realized this:
The thing on the right is an Ewok from Star Wars Episode VI
I'm not sure what the guy is wearing in the Forever Young music video but I found it hilarious that he looked like an Ewok from Star Wars
But that's probably just because I'm a nerd

Of Montreal

Of Montreal has a concert tonight in Philly!
I wish I were going.
But I'm in upstate New York
And therefore have no ride.
:(

Yesterday was my last day of school
But because I had to go visit family I wasn't allowed to do anything particularly fun with friends.
I did get to watch Little Miss Sunshine last night (or I guess it was this morning) though.
I wish I knew someone like Dwayne.

I love my family, but I wish I were home right now because I've been wanting to paint so badly lately.
I just bought a brand new set of Winsor & Newton oil paints!
I haven't had the chance to use them yet but I can't wait!
I've never painted in oils before; my usual medium is watercolor
So I'm not sure what my first oil painting will end up looking like,
But I'm excited to find out.

Clubmaster

Yesterday on the way home I stopped at the outlets and looked in Sunglass Hut.
I've always loved Ray-Bans.
I'm not sure what it is about them that makes them so fantastic.
Someday, when I actually have money I'm going to buy lots of them.
For now though, I'll just keep torturing myself by stopping in Sunglass Hut and trying all of them on.
I've decided that I NEED a pair of these.
I'm going to (attempt to) save up enough money to buy a pair.

Whip It

I'm a little bit unhealthily obsessed with the movie Whip It.
I can't understand how anyone would be able to not be though!
It's so fantastically quirky and all of the characters in it have their own odd charm.

Things that made me love Whip It:
1. Bliss
I wish I were Bliss Cavendar.
I'm not sure what it is about her that makes her so alluring.
Her clothes are gorgeously vintage; after I watched Whip It for the first time I was inspired to buy vintage combat boots and I still go looking for clothes like hers far too much.

2. Oliver
My longing to be Bliss is further enticed by the fact that she dates Oliver a.k.a. Landon Pigg.
Not only is he gorgeous, but he also has an amazing voice.
In Whip It he's a part of The Dirty Templetons which is a combination of Landon Pigg and Turbo Fruits.  I wish they would just combine in real life because they would be incredible.

3. Iron Maven
Although cast as the antagonist, for some reason I still love Maven.
I think it's because of her confidence.
Her hair is so gross and grimy that it actually looks good.
Her clothes are trashy and she wears too much eye make up,
but somehow she manages to pull it off.
Pretty well too.

4. Every single other person in the movie
Even the minor characters were awesome.
Sometimes you would only see someone for a couple of seconds but somehow you would still be able to tell what his/her personality was like.
They always seemed like someone I would love to be friends with.

5. Bodeen, Texas
Bodeen is such a beautiful town.
Everything seems dusty and nothing is pure white, only smooth creams.
It seems like nothing ever changes there.
Hypothetically, I would love to live there.
Realistically, I probably wouldn't.
But I do still want to sit on that giant pig on top of the Oink Joint.
Even though it isn't in Bodeen, the vintage shop in Austin that Bliss goes into to buy her boots is excellent too.
I really want to go there sometime if it's real.

6. The Clothing
I've already talked about it a bit, but it's so fantastic I feel like I need to reiterate.
I want every article of clothing that Bliss wears.
I wish I could pull off all of the clothes Maven wears.
I wish I did roller derby so I could wear the sleazy derby outfits.
(but I checked and the 21 or older rule is real so I wont be on the track for a while)

7. The Soundtrack!
The music is SO GOOD!
I went and found every single song, not just the ones they sell on the soundtrack CD.
I've downloaded most of them.
My favorites are the ones without vocals like The Road To Austin by The Section Quartet.

I wish I were Bliss Cavendar.

Boarding School Life

I go to a boarding school in Pennsylvania.  I live here even though it's only 15 minutes from my house.  This is boarding school life:
-Saturday morning classes
-Nantucket red
-Assigned seats in the dining hall
-Overly preppy girls with long, straight hair
-Overly preppy boys with a lacrosse obsession and hair "flow" during lacrosse season
-J.Crew
-Required chapel twice during the week and on some Sundays
-Shorts with at least 5 inch inseams for girls (from J.Crew of course)
-Lacrosse pinnies with khaki shorts (usually pastel colored) for boys
-Blazers and oxford shirts during school (with ties for boys)
-Constant worries about college
-No (allowed) cell phone use outside of dorms
-Night study hall
-Gossip that spreads like wildfire
-Required attendance to speeches
-Conservative
-Never enough sleep
-Never-ending days

Stumble Upon

One of my friends told me about this website called www.stumbleupon.com
Its a website where you say what interests you and then it brings up random websites about your interests.
I've found some really cool stuff on there... and some really weird things too haha
Here's an ADORABLE picture that came up
I hope you like it! :D

Chanel Spring 2010 Haute Couture

Chanel's Spring 2010 Haute Couture is exactly the look I'm in love with at the moment.  Cream, blush, mauve, ivory, and taupe are basically the colors I've been wearing for the past couple of weeks.  Chanel's fabrics are gorgeous too, especially the lace!  I'd give anything for those tights, but they probably cost more than my whole wardrobe put together.  Someday I'll be able to afford designer clothing...

PENN RELAYS!

Penn Relays were today!  I went for the 4x400m.  I got nervous and didn't run my best time, but it was loads of fun anyway!  Our uniform is horrid.  I can't even figure out how to properly describe it.  If you've ever seen Juno, the shorts that the XC guys wear... yeah.  Those are our shorts but in blue.  The built in underwear actually hangs below the shorts too, it's an added bonus.  They also make you look like you have a donk, even if you don't have one at all.  Our top is white and completely see through.  It's not tight, but it's not baggy; it seems as if it's trying to be a fitted track top, but couldn't quite get there so decided to be some sort of too-short half t shirt... thing.  But other than our horrible uniform, I love our track team!

Those two girls in front were on teams from Jamaica.  The girls in the back were from the USA.  This isn't even a 4x4, this is a 4x1.  The Jamaicans always win Penn Relays haha
There are so many people there, it's incredibly intimidating.

This was me running... I'm all alone haha we didn't do poorly or come in last, though this makes it seem as if we did.  Everyone was just really spread out.

A view of the stadium.  There were over 600 high school girls teams there.

Writing Prompt For English

For English the other day we had a writing prompt to describe a vivid dream, good or bad.  I wrote it in about 20 minutes so don't be too critical!  Here's what I came up with:

I stare at the summer dusk sky while sitting under my favorite tree. The sunset is gorgeous; this is my favorite time of day. Grass tickles my legs but the bark is harsh on my back. I have to push my hair out of my eyes again because of the warm breeze. The tree’s shade presses down on me, but a few drops of sunlight fight through, trying to shine even as the sun sets. I could sit here forever.

“Katharine!”

I break out of my trance and turn to my left to find the person who has called my name. I see my friends and smile. They are walking out of the Franklin and Marshall dining hall. Suddenly I am aware once again of where I am; summer camp.

My friends come and sit under the tree with me, laughing and continuing their dinner conversation. Ellie tosses me an apple she brought me from dinner. It’s a horrible throw. The apple lands by my feet; a crisp red apple against shaggy green grass. I pick it up and wipe the smooth skin with my shirt. The first bite is delicious; a kind of natural sweetness found only in perfectly ripe fruit. I thank Ellie for the apple and she laughs out something about division 1 softball.

I’m tired of sitting so I lie on the grass and watch the warm rainbow of clouds move ever so slowly across the sky. The air smells of fresh cut grass. I close my eyes and feel the summer.

I open them and suddenly I am speeding through a day, only catching glimpses of what’s happening; laughter, a blush, the smell of a freshly made grilled cheese, a run through the quad, a true friendship, a love of life and everything imaginable. They all flutter by me, grazing my cheeks and arms in their dance. They are each their own galaxy, innocent and free, spinning through their reality wearing smiles and happiness. My soul flutters from one to the next, never stopping but always observing, experiencing what the different galaxies are like. I reach for them and bring them to my heart, their love radiating through me as I am infused with warmth and bliss.

I wake up curled in crisp cotton sheets and under mountains of blankets. Everything is dressed in grays and blues. I look out the window next to my bed and see the road-stained snow of last week that refuses to melt. I sigh as I drag my legs out from under my covers and onto the carpet. I half expect to feel grass. I slide the rest of me out of bed and exhale dry winter air.

Someday I’ll breathe summer again.

The pictures above are pictures I took while at the summer camp I described in my dream. I sadly didn't take any of the sunset but I'll be sure to this year!

Monday ♥

Today is horrible.
Last night I had to take a practice AB Calc AP exam. Over three hours of calculus problems taken while sitting in a freezing gym on an uncomfortable folding chair with a desk that wobbled if you erased too fast. After the exam I had to come back to my dorm and do the rest of my homework for Monday. It was a fun night.
I set my alarm for 7:30 this morning. Classes start at 8:25. I normally start to pack up my things at 8:15 because my first class is about 7 minutes away from my dorm.
I woke up at 8:15.
I got ready in 5 minutes.
I didn't put on make up.
I didn't put in my contacts.
I didn't put on a matching outfit.
I didn't do the chem homework I was planning on doing when I woke up.
I didn't go buy the book for English I was supposed to have in class.
I ran to English.
I got there late.
I didn't have a pencil
or the book we were supposed to bring.
I went to chem.
It turns out, last night we didn't have homework
other than to study for the test we have today.
I didn't study.
I Monday

Love Like A Sunset

Isn't this sunset gorgeous? I took pictures of it on the ride back from visiting family for Easter. I think it would make a gorgeous watercolor, but I'm working on too many projects already... maybe during the summer.

I'm Not Your Typical Fashion Enthusiast

I love art and I love fashion.
I like math and science (but not as much as art and fashion).
And I love sports,
Particularly track and field. Actually, I had a meet today. I came in first in two events! There were only two other teams there so it's not much of an accomplishment though.
For some reason people tend to assume that I'm completely unathletic and out of shape... it's probably because I'm a vegetarian, pretty small, and not very aggressive (unless its during a sports game, then watch out). I wish there were more contact sports for women...
In other news, I'm completely in love with these shoes:

They're from Need Supply Co., but unless I find $110 in the pocket of an old pair of jeans there's no chance I'm going to be able to afford them.

I'm Hopeful That:

my laziness won't overpower me and I'll actually post things on here.
tomorrow really will come.
someday I'll find something I'm really, truly good at.
I'll breathe in summer and dance through dreams again.
it might even be soon.
everything will be alright somehow.
one day I'll stop hoping and start doing.
